Stun guns are small, hand-held electrical self-defense weapons that must be put into contact
with an attacker (stun guns are effective through clothing). The high voltage, low amperage,
electrical charge will quickly immobilize an attacker, but not permanently damage them. Stun guns
typical use one or more 9-volt batteries, with the charge being amplified to produce a stunning and incapacitating
electrical charge of between 50,000 and 800,000 volts. Stun guns are used by law enforcement agencies,
security personel, and private individuals.
